Regardless if your goal is to fly for fun, business, or a career, Weaver Vector pilot training school has all the tools you need to flying high. Headquartered at Pearland Regional Airport (LVJ), Weaver Vector aims to provide an ideal environment conducive to flight instruction. With moderate weather conditions and air traffic, new pilot-in-training will gain the confidence and experience needed to become a proficient pilot. If you've dreamt of getting away to visit friends and family faster of just want to take business trips away from crowded airlines, Weaver Vector is your first stop!
If you've never flown in a small aircraft before, like a Cessna 172, we recommend that you first take a Discovery Flight where we will introduce you to the aircraft and the skies above Houston and Galveston. You'll experience what it really feels like to fly a plane and we have many Discovery Flight options to choose from.
Private pilots are eligible to fly any single engine, fixed gear airplane with less than 200 HP. They are limited to the number of passengers only by the number of seats in any given qualifying aircraft. They are allowed to fly in visual conditions, day or night. After more advanced flight instruction, you can expand to the basics with nothing more than an instructor's log book endorsement. These endorsements are critical for flying high performance aircraft (>200 HP), complex aircraft (controllable prop, retractable landing gear, etc.), or a tail-wheel aircraft. Once you learn to fly and have your pilot certificate, you'll have the privilege of carrying passengers, fly to any location, pilot a single engine land based airplane, and more. You have the option to obtain an instrument rating and can conduct flights in less than visual weather too.
Flight training consists of two major areas: our ground school and hands-on flight training in our aircraft. Ideally, both should be happening at the same time. While ground school can be finished on an individual basis, most prefer our mentorship program. Not only will this ensure that all the material is covered but it will also provide the structure and organization to get through the required material in an organized and timely manner. Weaver Vector ground school consists of 36 hours of ground instruction and covers the following topics:
Let's admit it, ground school can be intimidating. There's a lot of information covered in a short amount of time, so it's critical to follow our guidelines and study! In order to pass the FAA knowledge test, candidates must pass with 70% or greater. We strongly encourage doing your flying lessons in conjunction with the ground school material. This demonstrates the practical application of the concepts covered during ground school, while making the whole experience more fun and enjoyable.
